Talks

I’ve regularly given talks to a broad set of audiences during my career.

Here are the current talks I’ve written and might suit your audience.

Agile doesn’t work here: Lessons from project-led teams

Many project-led teams struggle to get the most out of their Agile implementation. Often deciding it doesn’t work in their context, and falling back to purely waterfall techniques.

This talk explores the key differences between project-led and product-led teams. It walks the audience through why project-led teams find aspects of Agile so challenging. Shares some real world examples of those struggles, and finally confirms what tactics can be used to ensure they succeed with Agile.

Failure Mapping: How Slow Starts Foster Better Ends

Projects can feel like they’re going well, right up until the last stage. The end.

When teams look back at a project which ended badly, they rarely consider that how it began may well have led to the challenges and failings they experience at the end.

This talk looks at the importance of beginning projects well. The key elements of the efforts that come before delivery begins. Client Alignment, team building, plan building and risk balancing.
