I’ve run these standalone workshops for various agency teams. They’re a great way of upskilling your team, or combining them to take your whole delivery approach, or delivery model to the next level.
Many of these workshops are part of my work de-risking delivery at busy agencies.
In-person workshopping is preferable, although online also works. I find being in the same room allows for a better ‘show while doing’ approach to training your team. Passing on valuable knowledge and techniques to use repeatedly when they’re running your client projects.

Workshops
Training workshops focus on ways of approaching challenges. They allow your team to take away knowledge and actions and make progress on the more important challenges.
All workshops start with introductory information (and occasionally brief preparation guidance) and an insight summary or similar write-up. So you’ll have a record of the value each workshop created.
Refocus on Value
Powerful when:
- Your clients request changes based on personal option
- Clients ask for changes because they imagined a different solution
- Clients micro-manage projects and solutions
The Focus on Value workshop is for clients that you would like to educate on the benefits of Value-Driven projects. It takes everyone through several key concepts, finally arriving at an alignment on why value and outcomes should be the compass during their project.

Great Project Inceptions
Powerful when:
- You need to align around, and agree desirable outcomes
- You’d benefit from knowing more in advance
- You want to discuss the complex aspects while everybody is together
For the Project Inception Workshop, your clients get the benefit of the workshop, while your team starts to understand how to deliver a similar experience themselves in the future. The workshop covers information gathering and alignment before project kick-off. It builds relationships and a shared vision, while allowing your team to gain the understanding required for some of the more valuable aspects of client management.

The Fixed to Flexible client workshop takes a fixed scope or requirements document and converts it to a more flexible form of backlog. Along the way, we pinpoint where the value is hidden, and we protect whatever the client sees as the most important needs.

Vision & Story Mapping
Powerful when:
- You focus too much on what and not enough on why
- You want to align everybody on success and build enthusiasm
- Defining a roadmap upfront is desirable to help planning and prioritisation
Vision & Story Mapping is a great way for team and client to understand why a project is happening, what success looks like, and then dive into the detail of what value that brings for the end user or customer.

Powerful when:
- You’d like to delight clients when you share your work
- A more from output-focused to outcome-focused projects is desirable
- Your team avoids ownership of deadlines and iteration success
The Project Showcase Workshop is a training workshop focused on powerful ways of sharing the latest progress in a project. Bringing it back to the vision and showing alignment with it as justification for decisions. This can be an opportunity to get approval, feedback or sign-off depending on the project approach.

Mitigating Risk in Project Delivery is a client workshop which looks at the ways our projects go off course and even fail.
